Thermaltake DH202 - VFD woes and sollution (Frontview)
To anybody out there. I’ve got a Thermaltake DHD202 with the little VFD (LCD screen - not the touch) and found after installation of Win 7 64 the screen would light up, but it would not communicate with the Frontview software.
After a lot of Googling hours and trying various suggestions on the Soundgraph site. I uploaded the test sofware, updated to latest firmware, made changes to my registry etc. as per the Soundgraph site - all to no avail.)
Finally I found a post suggesting pulling the plug on the machine all together, i.e. switching it off at the mains. This makes sense seeing the VFD is powered straight from the power-supply. I tried this and it worked! So if you have similar problems I’d try a full power disconnect FIRST!
As for the case, it is big but somehow space was still limited inside - using
Intel I5 750
Gigabyte 55 board
Sata3 disks
LG BDROM
I added a big CPU fan which forced me to remove the top brace in the case, (Cramped issue no 1) but this is not a problem.
The optical disk slot is pretty far away from the SATA ports so you need pretty long SATA cables to reach.
My biggest gripe really is the overhang at the back makes it impossible for me to connect my VGA cable (I’ll be using HDMI, but still if I wanted to plug in a screen for any reason I can’t).
If I get time I will add more about this later.
